Institut Chiari de Barcelona - New website coming up


Making most of the arrival of the New Year 2016, we, at Institut Chiari & Siringomielia & Escoliosis de Barcelona, are developing an entirely new look of our website. This new version is adapted to the latest technologies, including new features to enhance the user experience. Note that the new website will be "responsive" and optimized for mobile devices.

Here is the summary of some of the salient features:

New welcome page, where you will find the description of the major diseases we treat, as well as recent testimonials from our patients, important news, upcoming events and popular science publications.

Simplified navigation, the new website will have a new restructuring of sections for the easy access to contents.

Our objective: we want it to become a benchmark, accessible and available to all patients for information.

CLOSURE - INTERNATIONAL COURSE ON DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT OF THE FILUM DISEASE. 3rd EDITION.

On October 23rd, the closing ceremony of the 3rd edition of the course on "Diagnosis and treatment of the Filum Disease" was held in the Central Hall of the Filum Academy Barcelona®.

This is the only course approved at international level to qualify for the accreditation of the FILUM SYSTEM® SANITARY method.

For five days, the doctors had the first hand opportunity to go through the twelve protocols that comprise this method in an intensive form, alternating theoretical training with several case studies.

In continuation, the diplomas and accreditations were delivered to the course participants.

Research and Development (R&D) accreditation

The Institut Chiari & Siringomielia & Escoliosis de Barcelona (ICSEB) is happy to announce that during the past month of May 2015, the Spanish Innovation Certification Agency (ACIE) and ENAC have certified our project Research, development and application of the diagnosis and treatment of the new Filum Disease as Research and Development (R&D).

The Filum Disease and the Filum System® - two milestones

At the Institut Chiari & Siringomielia & Escoliosis de Barcelona we are pleased to able to share with you that the current month of June marks the tenth anniversary of the publication of the paper titled Results of the section of the filum terminale in 20 patients with syringomyelia, scoliosis and Chiari malformation by Barcelona’s neurosurgeon and leader of his team Dr. Miguel B. ROYO SALVADOR in the renowned journal ACTA NEUROCHIRURGICA. The journal is the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies’ official publication.

The physicians Roberto MANTIA, Marco DI GESÚ, Ángelo VETRO, Fabrizio MANTIA, Sebastiano PALMA and Ángelo IOVANE have pointed out the possibility of an existing relationship between the Filum disease and the predisposition to develop the fibromyalgia syndrome.

News Flash from the Chiari & Scoliosis & Syringomyelia Foundation

The Chiari & Scoliosis & Syringomyelia Foundation is happy to announce the next scientific meeting that will be held in the city of Lublin (Poland) on upcoming 27 June 2015.

The meeting is organized by the Oddział Lubeslski Polskiego Towarzystwa Neurochirurgów Society together with the Institut Chiari & Siringomielia & Escoliosis de Barcelona and will count with the presence of the distinguished professor Dr. Krzysztof Turowski and the Spanish scientist Dr. Miguel B. Royo Salvador.


The conference’s title will be: “Filum System®: Outcomes in the Filum Disease: the Arnold Chiari I Syndrome, idiopathic Syringomyelia and idiopathic Scoliosis”.
