The Filum Disease and the Filum System® - two milestones

At the Institut Chiari & Siringomielia & Escoliosis de Barcelona we are pleased to able to share with you that the current month of June marks the tenth anniversary of the publication of the paper titled “Results of the section of the filum terminale in 20 patients with syringomyelia, scoliosis and Chiari malformation” by Barcelona’s neurosurgeon and leader of his team Dr. Miguel B. ROYO SALVADOR in the renowned journal ACTA NEUROCHIRURGICA. The journal is the European Association of Neurosurgical Societies’ official publication.

At the same time we would like to share with you that, coinciding with this emblematic anniversary, our neurosurgical team has reached the 1000 case mark of patients operated on the filum terminale with the minimally invasive technique as established in the Filum System^® method on 16 June 2015.

After these ten years of hard work and in view of such a special occasion, the Institut Chiari & Siringomielia & Escoliosis de Barcelona’s editorial department has the privilege to launch the first video regarding the Filum Disease, the condition that we dedicate our efforts to in such a highly specialized manner. The clip illustrates the shared cause of the Arnold Chiari I Syndrome, idiopathic Syringomyelia and idiopathic Scoliosis.
